GRANT AND KANDY FERRER
Susana, Jessica, Melodi, and Joshua
Managua, Nicaragua
Grant was saved through the witness of a friend as a young man, in 1975. Kandy had a Lutheran background but didn't come to know the Lord until age 17. Grant enrolled in the DITP in 1979-80. Both Grant and Kandy served in missions before they were married, he on a short-term mission to Spain and she for two years in Iran and Pakistan.
Grant and Kandy met in Belgium during an Operation Mobilization conference. They were married in 1981 at Fairhaven and were commended to Spain in 1982. They served in the town of Figueras for four years and were used by the Lord there. Then, in 1986, they planted a new church in Roses. Resistance to God's word was much greater here, and the work was slow going.
In 1991 they returned to Fairhaven on furlough, uncertain about the future of their ministry in Roses. That summer, God led Grant to take Jean Gibson's place on a speaking engagement in Honduras. It soon became clear that God's plan for them included Tegucigalpa.
Their ministry in Honduras involved speaking and assisting the existing missionaries in Tegucigalpa. Grant also teaches in the "Discipilado" (sort of a traveling Intern Program). He is primarily focused on incorporating the Discipleship Training Curriculum into every assembly and on sharing his vision for the discipling of Honduran believers with other men.
Currently Grant and Kandy are now involved in planting assemblies in Managua, Nicaragua.
The Ferrers have four children: Jessica (3/8/84), Susana (5/27/86), Melodi (3/29/88), and Joshua (08/02/97)
